other意思是“另一”、“另一些”,有复数形式。在句子中可作主语、宾语和定语。another意思是“另外”、“又一个”,表示增加,在句中可作宾语和定语。如：
Some
girls
are
singing
under
the
big
apple
tree
and
others
are
sitting
on
the
grass
talking.(有些女孩在大苹果树下唱歌,别的就躺在草地上说话)

后面可以跟名词复数,other
students
其他学生.(没有一定范围之内)
others
则相当于一个名词性物主代词,比如,
Some
students
are
playing
basketball,and
others
are
playing
football.
至于the
other,是在两者之间的"另一个"时才用到,比如
There
are
two
dogs
in
the
street.One
is
white,and
the
other
is
black.
它也可以跟名词复数,用法与other类同,只是
是在一定范围之内的"其他"(如在一个班级)
